Barona is a responsible solution

A more responsible and humane working life – that's what we at Barona are building. Barona is one of Finland's largest employers. Our impact on society is among the best in the world: according to Upright, which measures the net impact of companies, our overall rating is +59, which puts Barona among the top 10% in the world in terms of impact.

The most significant positive impact comes from job creation, tax revenue, and the development of employees' skills and know-how.

Barona's responsibility highlights in 2023:

  • We employed a significant number of young people: almost half (48%) of our employees were under 30 years old.
  • We created a well-being team for our employees, which provides preventive support. The team handled as many as 37,000 contacts during the year.
  • Between 2021 and 2023, we helped the City of Vantaa enhance the employment of unemployed jobseekers. The partnership saved the City of Vantaa approximately EUR 850,000 in municipal contribution payments for labor market support.
  • We improved occupational safety: The accident frequency rate of personnel working for our customers decreased by 56 percent.
  • We helped companies tackle the talent shortage by recruiting around 700 employees from abroad to the Nordic countries.
  • We helped more than 14,500 people develop their skills to match the needs of working life.
  • We supported the welfare society by paying taxes: Barona's tax footprint was approximately EUR 171 million.

Theme 3: Environment

Barona's goal is to promote environmentally sustainable development and minimize the negative environmental impacts of our operations. Our emissions intensity was 0.51 g CO2e per revenue euro (Scopes 1 and 2), and that of the entire value chain was 78.1 g CO2e per revenue euro (Scope 1–3).

How we create value

Barona is a platform that creates positive interaction and value between companies and people.

Everyone has the right to work, and Finland requires the contribution of everyone of working age.

  • Everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or other background factors, must be offered the most suitable way of working to earn a livelihood and feel that they are a meaningful part of society.
  • Companies need HR, training, and well-being services to ensure competent and healthy personnel that meet current needs.
