
Commercial Analyst for St1
We are looking for a Commercial Analyst for St1 to support our HVO Value Chain.
Are you eager to join the front row of experts working together with our partners towards a more sustainable value chain? You will be working in our HVO Value Chain, where we focus on maximizing commercial value of our assets. We turn market knowledge and understanding into business decisions and execute them as St1 Group at Nordic level.
As a part of our HVO Value Chain, your position will focus on supporting St1 commercial team with world class business analyses and contract management principles. The job also allows you to grow onto trading business as a junior trader. You will work closely with our trading team, supply chain operations, refinery and retail sales teams. You will be located in Helsinki, and report to the Value Chain lead HVO/SAF, St1 Nordic. The position is full-time and permanent.
As a Commercial Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Conduct in-depth market analysis on renewable fuels (e.g., HVO, SAF) by tracking price trends, supply-demand fluctuations, and regulatory developments. Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal stakeholders to support commercial decision-making.
- Ownership of the analytics tools. You maintain and enhance reporting tools (e.g., Excel models, Power BI dashboards) to improve data accuracy and visualization.
- Ownership and development of contract management principles on St1. Ensure the accurate recording and formalization of commercial spot agreements into binding physical contracts between counterparties. Maintain contract documentation, verify compliance with agreed terms, and support the trading team in managing contract-related processes for specific transactions.
- Support role on commercial actions within St1 as part of trading team. Depending on your skills and experience, your role in this area may include profitability calculations, assisting in sales development, exploring and launching new market segments, marketing the product, and establishing commercial relationships. You will collaborate closely with the trading team to enhance St1’s market presence and optimize commercial opportunities.
- Support the development of the whole value chain in the Nordics by improving foundational processes and gradually expanding into efficiency improvements, new initiatives, and strategic projects.
We are looking for the following experience and competences:
- You have excellent skills in managing large datasets with accuracy, e.g. in Excel
- You have strong analytical skills and commercial mindset that allows you to draw conclusions about market anomalies
- You are development-minded and actively bring forward development and solution options
- Understanding of EU Renewable Energy regulation and its implications for the Nordic market seen as an asset
- Excellent English skills, other Nordic languages are an asset but not a requirement
- Ability and willingness to travel between locations (Scandinavia/Europe, approximately once a month)
- Relevant education and 1–3 years of work experience from e.g., Operations Coordinator position, contracts management, or from B2B sales organizations, including knowledge of contract terms (e.g., Incoterms 2010).
- You value working closely with stakeholders and prefer to work primarily in the office
